THE STATION FOR THE NATION

WFRM Radio first launched in 2015 with a clear mission: to serve the community of Wolverhampton with great music, engaging programming, and a station listeners could truly call their own. From the very beginning, WFRM Radio quickly became a familiar and trusted voice in the area, providing a soundtrack for everyday life and building a strong connection with its growing audience. Over the years, the station developed a loyal following, thanks to its passion for music and its commitment to delivering an enjoyable listening experience. Whether people were tuning in at home, at work, or in the car, WFRM Radio became part of the daily routine for many listeners across the city. After nine successful years on air, the station faced an unexpected challenge when the original owner began experiencing health difficulties. Wanting to ensure the station could continue to operate and serve its listeners, the decision was made to pass ownership on to a new owner and management team. With fresh leadership in place, the station continued broadcasting and working to maintain the energy and community spirit that had made it so popular. However, after one more year of operation, circumstances led to the difficult decision to close the station. For many listeners, it was a sad moment to see a station they had supported and enjoyed for so long fall silent. Despite the closure, the memory of WFRM Radio remained strong, and its absence was clearly felt by the audience that had grown to love it. Not long after the station went off air, messages from listeners began to appear, asking for the station to return. The demand was overwhelming, with many people expressing how much they missed the music, the atmosphere, and the connection WFRM Radio had created. Because of this incredible support, the decision was made to bring the station back. In March 2026, WFRM Radio officially returned to the airwaves — but this time with a bigger vision and a broader reach. While the station proudly began as a service for Wolverhampton, its relaunch marked the start of a new chapter. Instead of broadcasting solely to one city, WFRM Radio expanded its focus to reach listeners around the world through online streaming and modern digital platforms. Today, WFRM Radio continues to grow as a station that connects people through the power of music. While its roots will always remain in Wolverhampton, its audience now stretches far beyond the city, bringing together listeners from different places, cultures, and backgrounds. With a mix of timeless classics and today’s biggest hits, WFRM Radio celebrates the music that has shaped generations while continuing to discover the songs that define today. Our goal remains simple: to keep great music alive, create lasting memories for listeners, and provide a station that people can turn to anytime, anywhere. From its beginnings as a local Wolverhampton station to its rebirth as a global radio station, WFRM Radio’s story is one of passion, resilience, and the incredible support of the listeners who made its return possible.
